Which Cell Phone?

Posted: November 17, 2004 in Other

OK, the peer pressure is too much. This weekend we are doing our Wedding registry so I’ll look at buying a cell phone while in consumer mode. Already owning a Dell X3i, I think a SmartPhone rather than joint PDA/phone is what I’d like. Anyone have any ideas? I know nothing about US plans either. [...]

The Atlanta Mobility SIG Kick-Off went OK

Posted: November 16, 2004 in Other

First of all thanks to Doug Turnure for helping us out. Your time is very much appreciated, and thanks to your understanding wife too! Once everyone arrived there were about three empty seats which was pleasing to see. The attendance also means we are now official Ineta members. This is awesome and means we have [...]

Anyone who has had more than a couple of beers with me knows my only interests are: 1. Technology 2. Cars 3. Anything else with wheels If you share number 2 then check out Auto Blog: http://www.autoblog.com/ RSS Feed: http://www.autoblog.com/rss.xml The author writes well and appears very independent – this is often not the case [...]

Mobility Road Show on Thursday Evening

Posted: October 30, 2004 in Other

It seems many people are unaware that Microsoft is hosting a free Mobility workshop this week. Details are here: http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1032259748&Culture=en-US Blogs from other cities that just had the roadshow are positive. This should be great event.

Free Tools from SysInternals

There are some great free tools over at http://www.sysinternals.com/. Get them now before someone like Computer Associates buys the company and starts charging for them. Personally, one tool in particular called ‘FileMon’ helped solve a tricky file locking problem on a recent project. FileMon showed the massive amount of files opened/closed by our software. A [...]

Backup your Blogs

Posted: October 18, 2004 in Other

Probably everyone already does this, but if not it is incredibly easy to create a DTS package that will do a nightly backup of your blog. The only semi-tricky part is realizing you have to start the Windows Service SQLSERVERAGENT. My Domain server is on 24×7 and it is comforting to know every evening it [...]

Commuting with Steve Wozniak

Posted: October 11, 2004 in Other

OK, so you don’t like DNR for whatever reasons. Try it again, Rory’s humour will really grow on you (please don’t leave the show Rory!) + heck the show is so informative any developer would be a fool not to listen. I mean what else do you do while commuting? If you really don’t like [...]

HUMOUR: Got Mac? Get Therapy

Posted: October 11, 2004 in Other

Macintosh users are a unique breed, I truly admire their devotion. Most of my Mac friends freely admit to being addicted, spending huge sums of cash on Macs with little justification other than their devotion for the brand. They are good products, but those ‘Mac-is-my-Nirvana’ adverts are a little unbelievable… well balance in the force [...]
