Brief Bio

November 9th, 2008

As a starry eyed eleven year old in 1981 Paul decided to be a Systems Analyst, that’s an old fashioned name for do-it-all IT consultant; his hands have rarely left a qwerty keyboard since.

Paul holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from UMIST University (UK’s MIT), followed ten years later with another Masters degree in AI and Robotics. A PhD in Artificial Intelligence has been on the cards twice, but the thought of four more years in poverty was always sobering!

His career began in 1989 designing custom ASICs for the UK Ministry of Defence. Other employers include Accenture, Deloitte, EDS, London Stock Exchange, SwissRe and UBS.

Paul works primarily with Microsoft .Net projects; he first toyed with .Net Alpha in late 2000 and is often called a .Net guru. He moved from Clipper5/ dBase IV to PowerBuilder to Java Application Servers before becoming enamored with .Net.

Paul maintains a technical web log http://dotnetworkaholic.com, tries to stay current in technology and presents national-wide on .Net and ALT.Net technologies.
